Josh Ford has come a long way since he played the young James Reid in On the Wings of Love and is now slowly making a name for himself as a new generation’s leading man.
In an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN, Josh opened up about his love-hate dynamic with Kira Balinger in The Secrets of Hotel 88, and shared how they are very different from their characters in the series.
“Of course, off-cam, I’m not Justin Almazan. The character of Justin that I played is very different. You know, I enjoyed playing him, but off-set, of course, I’m still myself. Because off-set is where the real magic happens, the real connection,” he clarified.
Josh explained that ultimately, it’s just part of their acting: “On screen, of course, you have to show who you are and be them in front of the camera,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Josh also shared how much he appreciated the support he received from Kira, even though he was on the opposing team in Bida sa Arena.
“I’m, of course, happy that Kira is here. But it’s annoying because she’s an opponent, you know? She’s wearing red and I’m representing blue. So, it’s just funny that I saw her. But, I’m so happy that she’s a part of this game,” Josh admitted.
He also shared that he almost became part of Team Th3rd Floor: “I received a text from someone and was supposed to be in, I think I was Th3rd Floor, but it got mixed up so I had to join Sparkle.”
In a lighter moment, Josh entertained netizens with a vlog teaser where he jokingly laid out the “rules” for Team Th3rd Floor captain Gerald Anderson, and jokingly pretended to set boundaries involving Kira.
“I need to tell Kuya Ge, you’re not allowed to look at Kira, you’re not allowed to talk to Kira. If Kira is there, they’re not allowed to be in the same room, they’ll turn their backs. I’ll tell Kuya Ge, they’re not allowed to… just out of respect,” he said.
He added with humor, “As long as he’s within a 2-meter radius, I have an alarm for that, something will go off.”
Despite the jokes, Josh made it clear how much he admires Gerald and shared what it felt like to be face to face with Gerald.
“I look up to Kuya Ge. He’s a role model for all of us actually, in the Th3rd Floor Team so it’s fun to see him and he’s a true captain,” he expressed
